So recently in game design we started learning about UV maps (as you might have guessed by the title) And honestly this made me a bit relived because when i take a look at MAJOR inspiration for 3d modeling, the main place i end up looking is Warframe. The suits, models, and animations in that game are amazing and beautiful and every time i look at it, i wonder, "I understand that i am still pretty much incapable of modeling anything and that with a free online tool on a mediocore school computer, my models won't add up to that, but seriously, HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU MODEL SUCH A THING WITH THAT DETAIL ON INDIVIDUAL PARTS" and then we learned about UV maps and then i said "Oh" Obviously this does not mean that modeling a beautiful beast like that will be easy/simple nonononono. Though now that i see how you can apply such material and Skin to a model in such a simple and specific way makes it seem a lot more doable. Before i learned of such a thing (before even learning about 3D modeling as well), i had vague questions in my mind. "How much time does that take, How many different shapes does that need, How do you make so many different colors" but recently I can hear myself thinking "How many modeled faces does that joint need, How many material ID's could this one model take, What alterations were made to this parts mesh" I have NO answers to these questions but i feel like the fact that im asking different questions shows at least a bit of growth right? Maybe? i hope os. Im trying to give myself some leeway here even though if im not entirely sure what ill want to do for a job in the future. I have a dream i think but im not sure if game design has something to do with it or not, but at least right now its getting me to output part of my artistic visions and what more can a musical kid like Elijah ask for.
