Ah yes Monster Hunter. What do we do in this game again? Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom, and the fifth mainline installment in the Monster Hunter series, it was released worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018. In this world, you might have guessed, monsters walk the earth. There are big and small ones, Non threatening and life ending. A research commission whom you as the character follow as a job, have classified these monsters as "Wyverns" however, there are beasts in the new world that are considered natural disasters incarnate. Beasts so powerful that the buildup of entire nations are always at risk with their presence. The commission have named these beasts "Elder dragons" You start out the game as a member of the 5th fleet who (if you could not have guessed) is the latest of the fleet to be sent out to the "new world" as this is the 5th installment of the monster hunter series. You start the game by creating your character as well as a cat like friend who walks on two legs.... Yeah don't ask, they are adorable so who cares. They are called Palicos! afterwards, you are sent out on a boat to the new world where you meet some nice people who ask you about your goals in coming to the new world. Unfortunately the Elder dragon "Zorah Magndoroas" And the boat you are riding on cross paths and throw the ship heavily off course and the ship is lost to see. You awake to find yourself on the back of Zorah Magndoroas and notice that he is so impressively large that it was as if you were standing on a volcanic mountain. You manage to escape via a Flight bird which you can call to your side to fly away on along with your handler who you met on the boat" You both arrive in the New world's "Ancient forest" it is here where you are given the tutorial and introduced to weapons. There are many different weapons that each have their own play-style and features so i'll let you find that out for yourself. Trust me, it would take too long to type. After you defeat a group of small monsters, you encounter your first Wyvern The "Great Jageres" After defeating him you are picked up by a commission hunter and escorted to your home base. It is there you are given your long term mission. There is a ritual that all elder dragons abide called the "Elder crossing" There is a space known as the "Elders recess" where the elder dragons go to die and release their bio energy in order to create new as well as maintain ecosystems, But recently something has been off. The elder dragons are changing course, even Zorah Magndoroas. We need to find out why the elder dragons are changing their course, especially Zorah Magndoroas. Should he die outside of the recess, the bio energy that is stored up when he dies will be so profound, it could end the entire commission at once. Ready your weapons hunters! We need to save humanity! hmm, but who, or what is luring the Elder dragons away from the Recess......
Sooooo yeah, a lot to cover. This game is fun. REALLY fun. Especially if you've got a good buddy to experience it with you. There are MANY Wyverns and Elder Dragons for you to learn about and experience as you fight or observe them from a distance, and learning and honing your skills as a hunter is much more satisfying than i can make it sound. The only bad side to this game is that it can very much get Grindy, and if you don't constantly keep up with your armor and choosing your upgrades and effects, you can very easily fall behind. Many monsters take LOTS of tries to beat for the first time. Openly said, this game is not easy, but HIGHLY rewarding.
Anyways 8.9/10 Will never fight a Lunastra again. (You'll See)
