Jump Force is a crossover fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment featuring characters from various manga and anime series. It comes from over 16 anime's and has 52 playable characters and counting. If you're looking to simply mainline the story missions of the game, you're looking at about 10-12 hours to complete everything. The story at question revolves around you as the player. It begins with the villain Frieza from Dragon Ball Z attacking the city and the protagonist of the same series Son Goku fighting Frieza. You as the character get caught up in the destruction of the fight and are revived from the character Trunks as a hero. You are then able to customize your "New Look" after being revived, as well as your name, powers, and voice. You then are informed of the grunts of the game known as "Venom's" and are given a tutorial through fighting one of the Venoms. Your main goal in the game is to gain power and abilities to recruit more members to the group trying to save the world known as "Jump Force" and defeat all the villains and Venom's to do so. This game in my own opinion is a great opportunity, it didn't do too well as a game though. The graphics of this game are its best friend, They are beautiful and make a great asset to the game. At least during battles. During free Rome experiences and dialog cut scenes, the character models seem so plastic and stiff and it almost makes it feel TOO artificial. I've mentioned nothing besides graphics so far and that's because this game isn't much to talk about. Even during the battle were the graphics take its best place, other problems can even make the graphics a bad thing. The mechanics are too simplistic. You can just mash one button to perform combos and spam abilities rather easily. This is good for casual gamers, but if you're looking for a more deep fighting system you won't find it here. The detail they put in effects for abilities in the game is great too, but it's TOO great for the systems Jump Force has been released for. There is a multitude of abilities that can lag out the game because of the number of particles and programs it is running at once. Sometimes your game might crash! This game had a great opportunity but executed the idea badly, especially in terms of feelings for the player. For example, all of the characters showcased throughout trailers and sneak peeks are all unlocked from the start of the game, which even though this gives the player many options to choose from, it also gives an incredible feeling of lack of progression. Lack of characters is another problem. Forced releases can very much damage the qualities of a game, this time it's with the character rosters themselves. This game combines so many different types of series but does it in one of the worse ways possible. Games that follow a singular series can follow a more direct line when it comes to production, Such as how Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has 64 characters. Jump force excluded so many basic characters from the multitude of anime's it drew from that you will spend more money on to play as because of future DLC. All in all, this game is not that great, while there are some fun aspects such as co-op gameplay, the game fails in many other ways. It will also be massively expensive, because of all the characters they left out of the game, that is just more DLC you will have to buy to play your possible favorite character.
5/10 would play for 1 hour and 30 minutes again
